GINGRENE (N.) ‘ghin-green  A recurring putrescent condition afflicting the American body  politic, in which unhealthy fervor for Newt Gingrich spreads through  the electorate, exacerbated by media attention.  Usage: The American economy, though weakened by the  financial collapse of 2008 and the Euro crisis in 2011, was just  getting back on its feet when Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential campaign started to gain heat— putting the recovery at risk as the threat of  Gingrene loomed.
