SOCIAL CRAWLER (N.) ‘so-shul ‘kraw-lur Someone who either intentionally seeks a low-effort social life; or who misguidedly attempts to boost his status by mingling with others he (wrongly) considers select. (Also, (N.) social crawling; q.v. socialosing) Usage: Arthur attended every gathering he thought might draw the “in crowd.” But the beer-soaked networking events he chose were Z-list, not A-list; and he was social crawling, not climbing, despite his best efforts.
